Sportsbook math, decoded.
OddsCipher is a math-first sports betting reference. We publish the formulas, the calculators, and the market signals. We do not take bets. We do not run affiliate links. Open methodology, transparent sources, every page dated.
## What we publish
- The Codex — every betting math concept in one place: vig, implied probability, no-vig price, CLV, Kelly, correlation, edge.
- Signals — observed market events: steam moves, vig compression, suspension surges. Each signal includes the books observed and the time window.
- Decoded — long-form explainers showing how a market is actually priced, with math worked through end-to-end.
- Calculators — interactive tools for vig removal, parlay math, CLV, Kelly fraction, and more. All formulas are linked back to the Codex entry.
## Editorial roles
OddsCipher is produced by an editorial collective. We sign work by role, not by invented byline.
Owns the Codex. Background: applied probability, sports modeling, quantitative trading. Final reviewer on every formula and worked example.
Owns Signals and Decoded. Background: sportsbook risk, trading desks, market-making. Signs off on every claim about how a book behaves.
Builds and maintains the Calculators. All client-side, no server-side data capture. Formulas are open and link back to the Codex.
Owns this page and the corrections log. Reviews disclosures and conflict-of-interest. Quarterly review of all editorial roles.
## Methodology
- Every formula is sourced. Codex entries link to a peer-reviewed reference, a standard textbook, or an authoritative industry document.
- Worked examples use real-looking prices, not real bets. We do not republish proprietary book data without permission.
- Signals are timestamped. Each Signal includes books observed, time window, and the threshold that triggered the publish.
- Calculator math is open. Every calculator links to its Codex entry with the formula in plain math.
- No affiliate revenue. OddsCipher does not earn commissions from sportsbooks. We do not accept paid placements.
## Corrections
Math mistakes are public. If we publish a wrong formula, a wrong number, or a misattributed source, we correct the page in place, add a dated correction note, and log it on the Corrections index. To flag a correction, write to [email protected] with the URL and a brief description.
## Responsible play
Every betting market has a positive house edge. We publish the math because honest math is better than mythology, not because more betting is better. If gambling is no longer leisure for you, the National Council on Problem Gambling helpline is 1-800-522-4700 (US, 24/7, confidential).
